Granted, it isn't building vocabulary or teaching some moral lesson, or introducing him to a new ethnic food, but man, does he love this book.

But then you will come to realize that a book composed of nothing but a cumulative string of barks + toddler who adores repetition = parental insanity. My son loved this book, but it started to drive me mad. So I sent it along to the thrift store and thanked the heavens that young toddlers don't have good memories. I suggest that before you purchase "Doggies" you think long and hard about whether you really want to spend your time reading the same sequence of barks to a kid who'll want it over and over and over again.
